Prison Bound

Prison Bound

1. Well, I went down to the bar room
just to have a bottle of beer.
I said: "Hey Mister bartender,
for a long time I ain't been here.

He said: "It's good to see you, buddy,
'cause you owe me forty dollars
from the last time!"
and I sure would like to pay.

2. So they brought me to the sheriff
and he shut me in a cell.
He said: "I ain't glad to see you again,
but this time I want you in."

I said: "It's good to see the lord
for protection for the people
and I'm glad to make
the prison to my home.

Ref.: Hey, hey, give me a bottle
of the good old stuff
against the troubles all around.
'cause I ain't got a dime in my pocket
and they gonna stomp me in the ground
for I can't pay - I'm prison bound.

3. Well, they woke me up next morning,
feel for luck, my head is gone.
The jailor said: "Get ready, boy!
you gonna pay for what you have done."

I said: "You kid me,
I have as good as no money
for to pay just the smell
of the bottle in your hand!"
